Simpler Regulation for Major Projects
The Government has established a ‘single point of entry’ office in Darwin for advice on regulatory approvals. The office opened in January 2016, providing services to projects in the Northern Territory and cross-border projects. More information is available on the Major Projects Approvals Agency website.
Cutting Red Tape
The Government has committed to cutting red tape for Fisheries in northern Australia, to improving protections around Indigenous cultural heritage and to Wildlife Trade Reform.
Reforms to Tourism Visas
The Government is committed to increasing tourism in the north by targeting the world’s fastest growing outbound tourist markets – China and India. To make Australia more attractive as both a first time and a repeat destination, the government is making reforms to the tourism visas and visa application processes for visitors from these countries.
